GQ, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Tatler covers.

Conde Nast are responsible for publishing a variety of style magazines, all across the globe. In the UK, some of Conde Nast’s most popular titles include: GQ, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Tatler. These magazines all  focus on things such as fashion, beauty, celebrity trends, and popular culture along with many other topics, making them interesting reads for their stylish conscious target audience.

VOGUE:
Vogue, founded in 1892, is a monthly fashion and lifestyle magazine that caters to a predominantly female audience who are affluent and interested in fashion and beauty. Its British edition was first published in 1916, following the success of its American counterpart. British vogue is said to link fashion to high society and class, teaching its readers how to ‘assume a distinctively chic and modern appearance’. British Vogue is arguably seen as more commercial than other editions of vogue across the world, for example in 2007 it had 2020 pages of advertising at an average of £16,000 a page. During the First World War, Conde Nast had to deal with restrictions on overseas shipping as well as paper shortages in America. This led to British Vogue being published as a way to provide fashion coverage in the British isles when it was impractical to receive it the traditional way. Vogue magazines are known for their simplistic and elevated page layouts, high quality editorial photography, and sophisticated journalism.

GQ was launched in 1931 in the United States under the name “apparel arts”, until 1958 when it was changed to Gentleman’s Quarterly. In 1967, the name finally changed to GQ. In 1970, the publication increased from quarterly to monthly.
